I can hardly see my MBP screen in outdoor daylight.

I would like to use my MacBook Pro outdoors but the screen is barely visible or has too much glare to see it in normal daylight. Does anyone know of a way to do this? My iPad and Kindle both show up very well in daylight - why not my MBP?

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.6)

CMSCK offers sound advice. However, I did notice, after upgrading to Lion, that the OS reduced screen brightness. Go to System Preferences/Display and move the toggle all the way to the right. That will maximize your screen brightness, though you probably know that you can further customize the settings in the Display Preference pane.

I am trying to reply to CMCSK's response to my question but everytime I click Reply I get a red/orange message saying an error occurred.

I am now trying the "advanced edit" option. If this goes through, then here is my reply to CMCSK:

Yes I played with the brightness and contrast controls. Otherthan use a shade, change my position in relation to the sun, wear thoseorange colored glasses, I don't know what else I could do. How wouldupdating to 10.6.8 make a difference?
