-Look inot the headphone jack hole. Does it look like the end of a plug is inside?

Are your headphones missing an end?

- If not, try the following to rule out a sftware problem:

- Reset:

Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home

button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Restore the iPod from backup

- Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod

If still problem you likely have a hardware problem. Probably a bad headphone jack. An appointment at the Genous Bar of an Apple store is in order.
