my contract is up with AT&T is my phone un-locked now??

Question

and I want to send my phone to Mexico for one of my friends to use it.

Can he activate it in Mexico?

Since my contract is up, and the took my number out of their portal and transfered my number to Verizon

iPhone. And now my iPhone 3gs is not

being used no more. Can anyone tell me if my 3gs is now Un-Locked? and is free to use else where under no

contract??

No it is not unlocked now, and it won't be. AT&T do not unlock their phones even once you are no longer in contract.

What a raw deal,

It shows that we are in a corporate world that the consumer is not protected at all.
