I Book Read Alouds

I have downloaded the free I Books app and a few children's books that are read alouds where a narrator will actually read the book aloud to the child. I have everything showing up on the app but when i open the books it doesn't read it aloud. I have a I Pod touch, am I missing something else that I am supposed to do?
