Stuck on the apple logo after reset. Been 11 hours now. Need help bad.

I did a reset of my iPod touch where all media and settings are wiped. It said that it might take 4 hours at least depending on the capacity. Its a 32GB iPod touch and it's been 11 hours now and counting. It's stuck on the apple logo and sometimes it turns off on its own and comes on again with the same apple logo and sometimes with the loading symbol just below it. I did what some suggested here, holding the home and the sleep button etc. Nothing works. Need help, apple care plan a bit pricey for one incident. Oh, in case it's relevant, I had to reset the settings so i can update to a newer version of itunes on my macbook. Thanks. =)

- I would eject the iPod. If you can't do that close iTunes and unplug the iPod. Charge the iPod for 1/2 hour or so and then see if iTunes will see the iPod. If it does then restore the iPod.

- If iTunes does not see the iPod try the following to get iTunes to see the iPod so you can restore the iPod.

- Reset the iPod:

Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home

button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

-Place the iPOd in recovery mode. For recovery mode see:

iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore

- Try DFU mode.
