How do I update my Airport Express with latest firmware?
Please check out this Apple Support article: All about Time Capsule, AirPort Extreme, and AirPort Express base station firmware updates.
"It requires a WAN host name to display a service globally using Bonjour."
What do I exactly type in the fields name and location? How do I find my WAN hostname?
Unless you have a need to administer the base station from the Internet, you should disable the "Allow setup over the Internet using Bonjour" option on the Base Station tab. Once you do, this error and requirement to supply a WAN hostname will disapear.
Where can I find the article you mention?
Oops sorry about that, I thought I included the link, here it is.
I only have one Airport Express, but what do you mean by a base station?
Apple uses the term "base station" to mean the same as thing as any of the AirPort routers.
How do I turn off "Allow setup over the InternetUsing Bonjour from? How do I find my WAN hostname?
As I mentioned earlier, you would use the AirPort Utility to enable/disable this option. ref: AirPort Utility > Select the AirPort Express > Manual Setup > AirPort > Base Station tab > Allow setup over the Internet using Bonjour. If you disable this, then you don't need to create a WAN hostname.
The link you have listed above is for WiFi use and doesn't have anything about updating firmware for the Airport Express [base statio/router/etc.], that I can see. did you perhaps put the wrong link?
If so where is it now or is it possible to just go to Apple Support/updates to find it?
I bought mine this year and I have seen where someone posted on airport communities that they have a Model A1364 [or 1365?], listed as the newest N router. Is that correct? Mine is the A1264 and was wondering if the aforementioned is the latest why I didn't get the newest one since the A1364[?] topic was posted in Oct. 2009 ??
Thanks for any and all replies.
