I lost my Ipad, it was stolen while I was in the atm in a mall .. the cctv and security didn't give much help.. The Ipad is still gone.. I have tried to locate the ipad through mobile me, I also leave a remote message and lock it.. both of them still pending.. it was a gift from my mother and I feel really bad about this..

I encounter problem in finding my ipad since it was only connected with wi-fi.. Now, I really have no idea what else that I can least do?

Please do let me know any information that might help..

I really thank you for any replies regarding my situation above.

There is nothing much to do.

Change your passwords and report it to the police.

    thank you for your reply..

How can I change my password? is it the apple id password?

I actually lock the Ipad, would it be possible for the thief to unlock it?

Change any and all psswords that were stored on the ipad.  E-mail, itunes, any programs, etc.

If you locked the ipad, then they should not be able to access your info, but changing your passwords is a good precaution.

Change passwords for any online service you may have used from your iPad - your Apple ID's password, online backing passwords, online store passwords, etc. While it's not likely, it is possible someone could recover such passwords from your iPad. Better to be safe than sorry.

And yes, it is possible for a thief to be able to unlock your iPad if you used the simple (four-digit) passcode. It's not easy, but it can be done. The thief can of course just restore the iPad, which while it would erase all your data and content allow the thief to then use the iPad as a new device (which the thief may have already done which would remove the Find My iPad setup).

Thank you roaminggnome and dave sawyer for your replies.

I changed all of the passwords used in my ipad.

One last question if I may add, would the thief receive my remote message when he/she restore the ipad? or is there any chance for a thief to receive it?

    Many thanks.

No. If the iPad has been restored, all functions available via the Find My iPad feature will then be unavailable.
