I was recently given a 1.25Ghz eMac with 512 MB of ram and a video problem which I fixed. I have both OS 10.4 and 10.5 and I'm wondering which would be best for this machine. Will be a word processor- emailer- web surfer.

I'd say 10.5, except with only 512 MB of RAM I'd have to say 10.4 would be better/faster. 🙂

I see web surfing as one of your desired uses. Understand that few if any G4 Macs (like the eMac) are doing well with web video any more. Most video codecs are no longer optimized for the PowerPC processors. If web video is among your common activities, be prepared for choppy performance.
I finally got time to mess with this and wound up experimenting with both OS. I settled on 10.4 because 10.5 seemed kinda draggy. I wanted time machine but 10.4 and SuperDuper works as well. Thanks for the suggestions.
