Cannot connect to the iTune Store from within iTunes.

Can not connect to the iTunes Store from within the iTunes program on my PC. Using iTunes 10.4 on a XP Sp3 system. Everything worked fine until a few days ago. Now the iTunes Store (Store) will not open. Tried rollback, disabling firewall, anti-virus etc. Not working. iTUnes Diagnostic says I can connect to the net but the screen remains blank, except "No connection to firmware update server" is listed in the Diagnostic.

Tried it and nothing changed. Cannot get the Store to open while in iTunes. My iphone 3g and access the Store thru wi-fi on my home network, so the network is not the problem either. Even the Diagnostic says the it connects to the net ok, but it doesn't show in the iTunes app. when I try to open it. Any other suggestions? I'm at wits end.

I have been having this issue for the past several days. I didn't change anything (that I know of) to make this happen. I do know that since itunes 10.4 was released, I have been having itunes crash on me very often. I have been able to get to the store now. What did I do? Well, after following about all the advice in these forums, I tried something else. I have NetNanny installed on my machine and went into the options to make sure that the itunes app was not being subjected to NetNanny. After I added itunes to that list, I was able to get to the store. I also made sure that the store's URL was on the 'OK' list in NetNanny.

My issue does not seem to be with security software, firewalls or anything of that sort. The last iTunes Diagnostic I ran says that it can connect to the Store and that all the connections were open. But when I click iTUnes Store in the iTunes program it does nothing, a blank page, so what gives. The program says it can connect but won't show it on the screen. Can't buy anything from the Store now, maybe a good thing. I'll just use Amazon and the Android market on my new Android phone.

Are you running anti virus or firewall software on your computer?

Can you copy and paste the iTunes Diagnostic results in the thread?

Your computers problem is probably related to Apple Application Support 2.0.1.

Try uninstalling Safari, QuickTime, and iTunes (along with related components). Then just reinstall the latest version of iTunes, without installing downloading and installing Safari or QuickTime seperately.

See this Apple document for help removing the apps -> Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP

Whatheck: Did this 2 days ago (Mon) when I reinstalled iTunes 10.4.80 for the 3rd time. Used Revo Uninstaller to remove the 2nd installement ,took a while, it found over 8k files, then reinstalled one package of itunes, no safari or quicktime separately. Is this what u r advising?

I suggest removing iTunes and Apple Application Support using the Control Panel. And then reinstalling iTunes only from the apple.com/iTunes/download. This will remove Apple Application Support 2.0.1 and revert to pre 2.0.1, which may not have conflicts on your system.

If it still has the problem after downgrading, you'll want to take a look at the article AnaMusic posted.
