Battery problem on iphone 4

The problem with my iPhone 4 happened some weeks ago, I think after I upgrated to 4.3.5

The phone automatically turns off when the battery states 20% remaining, and requires me to plug the charger on. When I plug the charger on, it turn on again and the battery still states 20%. Sometimes it automatically turns off at 40% of battery...

I restored 2 times but the problem havent been solved. I just hope this is not a hardware problem... Just bought the phone in April in Singaprore but I dont stay there anymore.

If you have the same problem and solved it well, please let me know how can I do to save my phone.

Thank you!

The above was at 7.53 this morning. As of now, I have a Usage time of 5 hours and odd and Standby of 3 days and odd and my battery percentage is down to just 37%. This is including usage of Twitter, Facebook, Linked in, Mail and iCal two or three times since 7.53 ( 4 hours approx.)

I realize that one shouldn't have to manually do all the things outlined above and I _have_ submitted a feedback form to Apple to try and program the iPhone so that it automatically does the above switches. I don't know if this is an idiotic suggestion but, until something happens, all the above works for me.

I have the same problem that you have but, although i appreciate your effort i don't think if switching everything off and been not able to use the phone is a satisfactory solution. My battery lasted 12 hours until iOS 5 update. Now it lasts no more than 4. The iPhone starts to burn and discharge and then i have no phone for the seven remaining hours until i get home...

I don't knw if we can do anything to push Apple to fix this up quickly because i'm getting dissappointed for the first time ever with them...

I agree with you in every respect. Just wanted to share what I'm forced to do in order to get some semblance of a functioning iPhone. 🙂 Since my last post, I've now disabled the 3G data option totally and am working on wifi only. Have re-enabled email notifications to "Push" and check once every hour for all my accounts. Battery has lasted for two days so far (down to ~ 60%) (Of course, I first drained the battery completely first, until the iPhone shut itself off, then recharged to 100%.)

Hope this helps!

I turned the push off in my emails then did a back up and restore on my phone4.This seems to fix my issue as it was draining my battrey within an a hour and a half.I have now had my phone going for the last 2 hours even played my smurf app and the battery hasn't changed much maybe 1 or 2%.From looking in other forums the mail app seems to cause a bit of an issue and even after turning the push off.You have to do a back up and restore as this rejusts the setting in your phone!IT WORKED FOR ME! and leave the push off🙂

With no change in use pattern whatsoever, it is clearly evident since upgrade to 5.0 OS and its subsequent update, that the battery issue is unresolved and has significantly affected a well functioning Iphone 4 on OS4 prior to upgrade. Apple need to come up with a compehensive solution with another upgrade as this is clearly a software issue that didnt exist until OS5.

My battery that often held charge overnight for use the next day, if forgetten to charge now barely makes it to 9-10PM each day though my usage is exactly the same as earlier.

I also upgrade to iOS5.0.1 and have experienced a significant deterioration in my battery life. I have to be constantly charging the iphone after a couple of hours of use. I take my charger now everywhere. I hope there is a fix in sight. I am even considering switching phones to an Android as soon as my contract with ATT expires.😟

Hi, I am a new owner of a Iphone4S, previously I had a Nokia E71. I am very disappointed in that that battery life in Iphone4S drops so much a space of a day. I have decided to turn off most of the applications except Safari2. I tend to think that if applications are on, it is sending information back to whoever (Apple) or applications I downloaded. I will up date you all on what the progress of this, as I too like to know my phone can last 1- 3 days max with the applications off, but know that if they are on for a specific use ~ 1- 2 days lucky.
