Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
I need to re-configure my network settings, but when I access 'network' in 'system preferences' a pop up window appears that states 'Your network setting have been changed by another application'. When I click 'OK', the window just re-appears and I cannot therefore access the network window. Help!

you can try and disable the services in active monitor of the other program that is changing your settings , tho other thing you may consider it to make a new local admin account , and change your settings through there .
Malware has the same access rights as the user

Thank you for coming to the rescue!
I've tried using an admin account, but the same pop up window appeared. I then have to force quit system preferences as it won't close otherwise.
How do I find out which other program has changed the settings and what is active monitor? I'm a bit of a computing novice I'm afraid...
Applications>utilities>active Monitor
in there you can close any 3rd part programs (like task manager in windows)
create a new accoung and try to change your network settings

I did BDAqua's suggestion
To stop the pop-up, Go to System Preferences: Security. Check the box next to "Require password to unlock each secure system preference." Then lock Security.
