Most iOS apps crashing on startup

Hi All,

As of this morning, most of the iOS apps (Safari, Mail, App Store, Settings, etc..) on my iphone 4 (running 4.3.5) have started crashing on startup. One solution I found mentioned installing an app directly to the phone (not through iTunes) as a fix for this issue. However, the App Store is one of the apps that crashes on startup, so this solution won't work in this case. Is there anything else I can do to fix the issue?

Obviously that should not be happening.

First try restarting your iPhone:

If that doesn't resolve your issue, try a factory restore using your computer and iTunes:

Yup, tried them both. Restart, reboot and even did a factory restore - apps still crash on opening. Apologies for not mentioning that before. Ive been searching Google all day - the only relevant advice I can find is here:

Are you still covered by AppleCare? If so, any required repair will be without cost to you.

Even if you're still under AppleCare, the folks at your local Apple Store are often willing to assist you at the Genius Bar in cases like this. If a Factory Restore operation didn't put it right, and you can't use wjosten's weird fix because the App Store app itself is crashing, then in-person help is probably your next step.

No Apple Care. Looks like I'm screwed. Any idea how much this is going to run me at the Genius Bar? Or is there anything else I can try?

Hey I had the same trouble, upgraded to iOS 5 and all my Apps Crash at startup.

Solution is Download a Free app from App Store and when you type your password all Apps now work.

I reckon this is one of the 200 new features. It must validate your password for iTunes for Apps to work.

Hope this helps others..it worked for me.

I have had the same problem..

I just downloaded a new app and it prompted me to enter my existing itunes account or create a new one. I was a mobileme user...not sure if this makes a difference.

By downloading a new free app I was prompted to enter my iTunes name and PW and after a few spins of the wheel I was able to open any other apps without a problem

Somehow this randomly worked for me, even though i have other syning problems with itunes.
