trackpad settings not saving after powering down

YES! ive been having the exact same problem! I havnt a clue either why its doing this. Im using an 09 Pro. Same 10.6.8

Me too. It's random though. Sometimes it remembers, sometime it doesn't. Very frustrating.

Same problem over here. Running a MacOSX 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) on a MacBook Pro from 2009. The same problem has been discussed elswhere on this forum (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2756806?start=30&tstart=0) but so far no solution has been found. Come on guys, this can't be that hard. Get on it!

Bumping the subject, have been having the same issue on m MBP from 2010 OS 10.6.8.

Didn't have it the first year or so, but for the past few months I started loosing the 'one finger; tap to click and secondary clock' settings after restarting. To me it also occurs randomly, very annoying!

Won't be upgradiong to Lion soon, so dear Apple: I need a FIX!

Same exact problem for me. Everytime I restart I have to go into the system preferences and spend 1 minute changing my trackpad settings.

1 minute x everytime I restart = many minutes of my life.

I don't know if this will be helpful in identifying a fix, but I've noticed it seems to happen in and around 2 events.

1.) Plugging / unplugging my macbook into a display using an HDMI > Thunderbolt adapter

2.) Using the Magic Mouse via Bluetooth.

I have been having the same trackpad preference problem on my MacBook 10.6.8 . . .

I am not using any particular application that is special and should create a conflict . . . none of the ones anyone else has mentioned . . .

It seems that the issue usually happens when I reboot my computer . . . occasionally when I'm already in and using it . . .

It's annoying . . .

Same problem. Macbook Pro from 2010 running 10.6.8. It does seem to happen after reboot. Very annoying!!! I'm glad it's not just me though.

I am also experiencing this problem for months. It just came out of nowhere, I thought an update would solve the problem but did nothing. Today I finally googled "touch to click macbook reset" and have found no fix. This is a bit ridiculous.

Hi kfrombk, check out Don's post here. You'll want to delete the following file from your preferences folder. Worked for me! (keeping fingers crossed it stays that way...)

I'd been searching to an answer for this for months with no resolve until (EUREKA!) this recent post by Barsney-15E and clarified further by Don.

Deleting com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouch.trackpad.plist from the preferences folder seems to have finally resolved the issue for me.
