Jul 30, 2012 10:23 PM in response to garytorielloby fredrik34,I've had this problem a couple of year, while always running the latest OS X version.
After installing Mountain Lion the problem seems to have disappeared! At least for me. It's only been three days, but it looks good.
Sorry for off topic, but I have to write this somewhere. Mountain Lion is an awesome upgrade. Not so much for the new stuff (Notifications is Growl Light), but for the speed and over all feel. I even finally switched back to Safari from Chrome. This goes both for my mid 2009 Mac Book Pro and mid 2010 iMac 27" i7.

Aug 2, 2012 10:44 AM in response to garytorielloby Robert Deason,I finally wrote a script that will put my favorite folders in place after my iMac thinks its places better. I keep a messy desktop [you might say I'm a desktop horder], a result of too many things to do and not enought time. I click it and bingo, each of the folders comes out of the forest of icons and lines up obediently in a row at the top - left of the screen. Lion doesn't think that's a good place, so I know sometime, any time, they'll be back re-embedded in the pack, and I'll put them back, with a smug look on my face.
