Icons on top pane of folders?

I inadvertently dragged a file icon to the top bar of a folder and now it shows up on all folders. Ideas on how to remove? I don't need that as a shortcut right now (and it would be nice to know how i can use in the future and remove when no longer needed!)

Thanks in advance for any input

Hold down the Command key and drag the folder's icon off of the header bar of the window. When you release it, it should poof-disappear.
