Accessing a usb drive plugged into a router from the ipad

I've just gotten a new router, with a USB port on it. I plug a memory stick into it, which I can browse from my Mac, and from my PS3. However I'd like to be able to browse this from the iPad. I got an app called Filebrowser, however it's unable to access the device (wifi connected and can browse the internet). Any suggestions on how to access it from the ipad? The IP address is supposed to be: 192.168.1.253, however this doesn't open in Safari. there is also an FTP address that doesnt open in Safari.

Any apps, or any thoughts on what I need to do?

Thanks!

iPad, iOS 4.3
