Will iCloud work with Snow Leopard?

I just talked with an Apple Care rep and I was told that I can update my MM account to iCloud and my calendars and email (@mac and @me) will still sync with my Mac running Snow Leopard. I only asked about those 2 specific things, because that is all I care about. You will have to do the migration to iCloud through your browser

Just to be clear. The current answer is NO, iCloud will not work with Snow Leopard.

I am not happy with this answer, but that is what it is. I think I am going back to iOS4 if I can.

iCloud requires OS X Lion v10.7.2 for Mac

I have a perfectly good imac with a 1.83 Ghz Intel Core Duo that I can't put Lion on. Now my macbook and iphone are connected but the desktop that the family shares is useless.

Does anyone know a way around this?

Why go back? You don't have to use iCloud, or you can use both MM and iCloud for different things. We have a familr shared MM account and each of us have our individual appleID iCloud.

Regardless MM ends service next year.

icloud for snow leopard does work if you do the following:

Go to iCal preferences.

Set up new account.

Account Type: CalDAV

User Name: Your MobileMe / iCloud email address

Password: Your password for above

Server Address: p06-caldav.icloud.com

It is really amusing to have these people here saying how "good" "working" "reliable" etc.. their machines are.

In former versions of OSX this was all no matter. OSX evolved over time slowly. But these days with Lion it makes full use of CPU and GPU technologies, paired with far more advanced security and network standards.

They simple do not want to understand this :

Wanting the latest and greatest OS and Apps goes no longer together with owning old hardware. And Hardware is old the minute you unbox it at home. Might be tragic but that's how it is. Windows Users know this already, especially the "gamers" that are in a constant Hardware-Upgrademania only to run the newest games on PCs.

There are no "galleries" in the iCloud. iCloud is a "push" service to other supported devices and computers.

MobileMe Gallery pages will be discontinued July, 2012 with the end of its services (iDisk, Web pages, etc).

QuickTimeKirk - So glad that you are "amused" that people can't throw down money every year for a new apple product to go with the products already purchased from Apple. Three iphones, a macbook and imac in the last 4 years is a pretty significant investment.

I understand completely that my hardware is out of date the minute it is "out of the box" ... interesting fact though, went back to an old windows pc running Vista to copy a VHS tape onto a DVD, done in 1 hour. Not a gamer - just trying to keep all of my machines in sync, which was working great until the upgrade of icloud.

Your iPhones will have no trouble working with the iCloud services.

Since it is a "free" upgrade (iOS 5 and iCloud) you can move at any time.

You can still "physically" connect any of your devices to your Snow Leopard OS iMac and move files about.

But the iCloud services require Lion 10.7.2 for desktops and laptops. Since your iMac doesn't meet the requirements for Lion it will not be able to use the iCloud services.

I don't find anything "amusing" in this regard. Just pointing out some facts.
