Aluminum Keyboard Apple Update Problems

I Have 2 dysfunctional keyboards. After I fully upgrade my mac mini to 10.6.8 latest upgrade and firmware 1.1 on USB keyboards. I have issues.

1) keyboard number one has non working keys when pressing shift on letter w. shift sporadically works on certain keys and stops other times.

2) Keyboard Number two, Has repeating key on the number " s "looks like this (sssssssss) non stop on boot. and starts on and of during computer usage until pressing any key on the computer.

Is there way to downgrade the Apple Firmware? has anyone successfully fixed this problem?

Mac mini, Mac OS X (10.6.8), 2.53 dual core 4g ram

Hello:

Anything is possible, but I doubt the firmware is the issue (unless it somehow unmasked an existing condition).

I had a problem similar to the one you describe on #2 (repeating keys). Apple replaced it (it was under warranty and they indicated it was faulty).

In any event, there are a couple of generic things you might try - they may help and will not hurt anything:

1. Reset the PRAM.

2. Reset the SMC.

3. Trash a preference file (com.apple.bluetooth.plist) and restart.

P.S. There is no way (that I am aware of) to "unring (delete) the bell" on a firmware update.

Thanks for reply. I tried so far same issue. Apple just destroyed 2 perfectly good keyboards.

Only info I found was relating to a hack of the keyboard. I am not programmer but this interesting insight into apple crap. I hope they release new firmware. I am also thinking about taking them to small claims court if i get no resolution.
