Why is my iPod skipping songs?

When I am listening to my iPod, it will randomly skip songs. My iPod acknowledges they exist and they're in the library and everything, but when it comes time to play them, it will just play the song after it. If I go down through and select the song manually, it does the same thing. If I come across the song on shuffle, it'll show the album artwork, but won't play it. When you try to go back to it, it will just get stuck on the song after and everytime you try to go back it will just restart the song you're stuck on. I'm stumped. I've tried deleting all the songs and putting them back on, I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, and I've even reset my iPod, but still nothing...Help?
