Ipod nano Screen Blank

My ipod nano screen faded away and is now gone. Light works but no words/images/or menus? It's as if the contrast is too high. From what I understand there is no contrast on the Nano? Help please I need my ipod to work and I have no access to an Apple store. Thank you.

Try doing a reset on your Nano. If that doesn't work, post again.

Reset your iPod.

1) Slide the lock button to ON.
2) Slide the lock button to OFF.
3) Press 'menu' and 'centre' button together for several seconds.
4) Follow the instructions.

Mine too (basically). white horrizontal bar across top, grey block for middle 95% and sort of a pebble textured horrizontal bar at bottom for left 80% followed by a black and then white bar for remainder of left to right bottom.

Reset and Restart have done nothing except delete everything from nano.

what next?

Hello ez1,

Welcome to Apple Discussions.

When you did a reset:
Resetting iPod

...did the Apple logo show up on the nano screen?

If not, maybe the battery is to low to perform that operation.

When you plug your nano to your computer, does "Do not disconnect" show up on the screen? If so, let the nano charge for several hours. If not, follow the directions in this article:
iPod's battery doesn't charge

By the way, it could be helpful if you could fill your computer information and operating system in your "My Settings" in the right column.

Thanks for the link.

Nothing shows up on the screen at all, except what looks like a white header bar at top, and a grey screen below that. Music was working fine before I did the restore operation, but trouble was that there was no way to use the menus, select songs, etc. since screen didn't display anything (I could (and did) blindly scroll around for a while, but I'd've gotten a shuffle if I wanted that type of deal). So, I think it probably isn't a battery issue, though I may as well try your advice.

Will let you know if it works out.

Hi ez1,

The problem you're experiencing also happened to a friend of mine. Being impatient, he went straight back to the Apple store and exchanged it. Apparently it was a hardware issue. Just in case:

Apple Store:

Call Apple:

...or request service on your iPod:

I tried to reset and nothing but what is to be expected from reset. In a dark room if I hold the Ipod at an angle I can see very faint lines I recognize as the menu or a song playing, but cannot make out any specifics. Other than not having a monitor it works fine. Thanks in advance for any additional input. The Nano is only a month old.

Thanks, reehmeo
