macbook air turns on then off

I had to turn off my macbook air (first model) by pushing the power button. Now, when I try to restart it, I have a grey screen and hear the start sound, then the screen goes dark again with the shutting down sound. Then, the computer tries to restart again (grey screen and sound), then switches off. It does this again and again.

What can I do?

Thanks

MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Try resetting the power management:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

Shut down the computer.

Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.

On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.

Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.

Press the power button to turn on the computer.

Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.
