USB 3.0 external drive on iMac (Intel) possible?

Is there a cable with FW800 and USB 3 connectors? If so, will an iMac (late 2009) Duo Intel talk to drive with drivers from LaCie?

Thanks.

MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz Black Bezel, 4g RAM, iMac 27 Quad 8g RAM, multiple external, Mac OS X (10.6.2), iPad2 64

Apple currently does not support USB 3.0, so if you connect a USB 3.0 drive via USB it will work however at USB 2.0 speeds. The fastest drives available are Thunderbolt drives however your computer must have at least one Thunderbolt port. If it doesn't then the quickest solution for an iMac is FW800.

Also there is no such cable as the one you're inquiring about.

I assume the software driver developed by LaCie for their USB 3 external drives work with Macs at USB 3 speed. Is that a safe assumption?

No,

I've said it 2x already, for the 3rd time OS X only supports USB 2 speeds, using a USB 3 drive on a Mac is total waste of money, resources and time. Apple HAS NO PLANS TO SUPPORT USB 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!
