Handbrake for Lion?

I downloaded Handbrake the other day, but I'm not sure if it is the right version. When I put a disk in, right away I got an error saying something to the effect of "32 bit not compatible with 64 bit" (or something like that). At any rate, I'm wondering if I installed the wrong version? I believe I installed the 64 bit. I also got a message saying in order to play the DVD I had to install another VLC Player (I think), does that make sense? Should I do that?

Could someone tell me which version of Handbrake to install for a new MacBook Pro with Lion on it?

Also, is Handbrake still the preferred method for ripping DVD's (to a Macbook Pro) or is there a better software I should consider?

I want to be able to start ripping DVD's to my Macbook since I couldn't find a version of handbrake for my outdated G5 Tower Mac so any input on the best way to do this would be helpful.

Thanks,

Ehren

You want HandBrake 0.9.5 which is the 64-bit version.

Ok, that looks like what I have.

When I put the disk in and it says 32 bit won't work with 64 bit, is that in reference to the disk not working with the 64 bit Handbrake or is it something in my settings.

And as for the second part to my question, should I install the VLC player as it mentioned?

I guess I'm just not sure how to properly use Handbrake.

Thanks,

Does that help? I just bought this new about 1 week ago.

So should I just have both versions of Handbrake, 64 and 32 and use whichever one works for specific disks?
