Voice distortion problem in Garageband...can anyone help?

While recording a 30 minute audio clip of voice with some ambient noise...the voice begain to get distorted. There are 5 segments of voice all recorded using Macbook Pro microphone built in. On the second segment, a noise that sounds like low white noise began to occur while the voice was speaking. It comes up very quickly just before the voice and goes away just after. This hapens in the middle of the segment with no changes I can see and continues into the rest of the segments.

Any ideas?

Thanks...

If you used the built in microphone you may have captured the the noise of the fan starting if your MacBook Pro was heating up. That noise sometimes does sound like low white noise.

If tht's the case let the computer cool down between recordings or use an external microphone.

The heating up part makes sense because it does not begin until 3 minutes in. The noise is not constant like a fan but contingent on the voice. It's silent until just instants before the voice begins and then disappears as the voice ends...it sounds like a wave that washes up and away with each word.
