I'm having the exact same issue with my OKI C330DN. The printer is literally just out of the box and my PC isn't complaining about it, just my MAC which is running Mac OS 10.7.1. Same as everyone else, it seems to print fine, it's just the optical photoconductor message I'm seeing. I thought it was the printer up until I saw this thread.

Also applies to my new Lexmark x544n

Seems to be a common problem - also applies to Toshiba e-Studio CS223cs

I have the same problem with Lexmark C544.  Also wasted $150 on a new optical photo conductor for the printer

Subscribing - also the same problem for the Dell 3100cn.

Having the same issue with Xerox 6360.

Same problem here with Dell 3100cn, new drum and only has errors on Mac Lion

I have a Lexmark E250dn laser running via Network connection, with latest drivers installed, on a Lion 10.7.1 MBP 2011 13", and am getting the exact same issue. Thankfully I didn't buy any spare parts, as the PC assembly only has 3,000 pages on it, and 2 other PC's I own are showing green across the board for this printer.

Apple needs to fix this ASAP!

Same issue with lexmark E120n - just downloaded and installed drivers from Lexmark (Apple isn't showing any for Lion on its site and an auto-download direct from System Settings fails).  Stil showing error.  Glad I checked the photoconductor lasts 25,000 pages and I've only printed 5485!

I just got nowhere with Apple's tech support on getting my Dell 3100cn to work over IP.  The printer works fine if I connect via USB to my iMac, if I use a Windows PC or from my iPad so it has to be a problem with Lion.

If each of you reported this to:

Apple migh do something about it. They are not comitted to following Apple Discussion Groups.

I allready reported it on september 14th to the Apple feedback page. So far nothing. I'm sure others did too. Maybe we should all give it another go? Or should we give Apple time to fix the numerous of, let's say, mistakes they've made with the introduction of Lion?

Just wanted to remind everyone this issue isn't just on Lion, it also occurs with 10.6.8 and possibly 10.6.7 but I don't remember and don't have any machines still running that version so it has been around for a while. Also to the people having problems with the Dell 3100cn printer, if you are installing it as a network printer you need to make sure it is installed as an LPD printer, it will not work with IPP or JetDirect connections, the generic post script driver works fine for this model printer on Lion.

My view is that the earlier established problems are reported to Apple, the earlier they will be solved, and you have done that. It must take some time to establish the exact problem, devise a solution, test it, and include in the next OS version.

Apple Tech Support actually referred me to this discussion thread.  By changing the install to a LPD I can now at least get the printer to work so I'm willing to be more patient on the resolution of the erroneous error message.  This is my first Mac so I've no experience with anything before Lion and I am thankful to have the support from the more seasoned users.
