Feb 13, 2012 7:55 AM in response to drdocumentby Heva,Hi, I'm using a Xerox WC 7120 (driver 2.49.0) and it seems that after the latest OSX update it finally works! Not getting that error message anymore!

Feb 17, 2012 7:47 PM in response to drdocumentby EdisonW,Well, it looks like Apple has FINALLY squashed this bug!!! My Lexmark E250dn is printing WITHOUT ERRORS after the 10.7.3 update! I still cannot poll the supply status (it's connected via LAN), but thank GOD it's back to normal now!
At least Apple was listening to all that feedback we were sending them eh?

Mar 20, 2012 6:14 PM in response to drdocumentby bazanders,Still have the issue with the OKI C530dn, latest driver and 10.7.3, can print just this stupid OPC message everytime i print via network.
Another strange quirk, all fine if i connect via USB except it wont give me toner levels, yet gives them via network odd indeed!!!

Mar 21, 2012 1:57 AM in response to bazandersby justgotmac,My Oki C530dn is working fine except for the OPC message. I did have a problem with double sided printing not working however I deleted the printer and reloaded making sure it was discovered using Bonjour and not a static IP as I had before, everything is now ok. Message is irritating but not an issue anymore as all ok.

Mar 28, 2012 2:55 PM in response to drdocumentby profinite,Here we go again. Apple issues an update to OS and something goes wrong with the printer.
I am on a Mac Pro with Lion 10.7.3. Recently, I have noticed the same "The optical photoconductor needs to be replaced." message for my OKI C6150 LED Color Laser Printer.
Of course, I called the OKI Tech Support. And, of course, they told me that I'd need to contact Apple.
Is there an emerging universal fix or workaround in this thread? I don't see it myself.

Jul 4, 2012 9:56 PM in response to drdocumentby lanceloz,Same warning message from the printer dialog of my MacBookPro running Lion 10.7.4 when I am trying to print on my very new OKI MC361 printer which I bought yesterday (july 4th 2012). The printer is installed as a network printer (not attached and shared by a computer).
Despite the warning, it looks that I can print ok. It is annoying as it appears to make the printer dialog bounce in my dock every single time I print.

Jul 5, 2012 9:49 AM in response to drdocumentby randy_parker,I've had to write my own printer driver and print spooler for a Ruby on Rails web app that prints thousands of complex court-specific legal filings every day. After two years of clean running, I'm getting this error reported via SNMP on just one of the identical production printers. All the printers are the exact same model running the exact same firmware revision, but one of them has printed more pages than the others.
Everyone on this thread is quick to blame CUPS or Apple, but in my view, the printer firmware is the culprit. It simply should not be reporting warnings as errors. Sure, the driver can be "fixed" (ie "broken", technically speaking) to treat that specific reported "error" as "a status reminder, not an actual error", but printers shouldn't lie about what's wrong with them. I have a lot of sympathy for folks who have to write the drivers for devices that are sloppy with SNMP. Basically, you have to accomodate the bugs in certain firmware versions of certain printers in order to overlook what that device says is going on, because it probably isn't true. Except sometimes it might be...
For fun, open a terminal and type:
snmpwalk -Os -c public -v 1 192.168.0.142
where you replace the IP address with the actual address of the printer on your network. Then try to sort out the 1,000 accurate values from the (occasionally) inaccurate one.
In the end, the customer just wants it to work, and they blame the OS vendor for the device's bugs. I suppose that is natural enough, but at least this little rant gives you some perspective on the problem.

Jul 5, 2012 11:42 AM in response to randy_parkerby etower333k,Randy_Parker:
Sorry but I strongly disagree. My printer was working find before the upgrade so I don't see how this is a firmware issue. Anhd this problem is with may different manufactures and models. CUPS is new to OSX and I get it. BUT Apple along with the printer vendor needs to fix the problem.

Jul 5, 2012 12:47 PM in response to drdocumentby twdotnet,Good news everyone!
At least for my Lexmark X544 the issue has been fixed by an upgrade to a new firmware of the printer. In my case Lexmark has released firmware version LL.EL.P532-0 on 12th of May which is working for X543 X544 and X546. They do not mention any fixes about this issue in the release notes.
