    I started having the same probelm. I have been using the same USB hub for months with no problem. Then one day (yesterday), didn't work. I also have a USB extender cable and that is hit and miss as of yesterday (after it has worked for monthes also).

    So the question is, if it is a minimum power problem from the USB, why all of a sudden? And (for me) why the USB extender cable too?

    Just got off with Customer Support. Once she found out that the phone charged just fine once plugged directly into the computer, she wasn't very concerned. She said that though phones can charge with some hubs, they weren't designed to be plugged into anything else but the computer or the wall with their addaptor. -.-

    I'm going to try to uninstall and reinstall the drivers. Not holding my breath.

    My iPhone 5 recently started showing the same message and I googled forever and came across someone who said to just blow into the input for the charger to get dirt and stuff out and it works perfectly now! :)

    Best advice. Switch to an HTC One like I did. Gave up on it. Apple insisted it was my charger. So I figured maybe they are right. I went out and bough all 3 new charges. One for car, one for home and one for work. Guess what. Same issue. I had a 4s, didn't see any point in the 5 and just tired of Apple's antics to force you into buying more stuff. The HTC One is absolutely amazing and it actually charges.

    This is an Apple software "fix" to make sure you only buy Apple cables and chargers or plug the iDevice directly into a Macintosh (not PC laptop in any kind of sleep mode). Not any more.

    Hello.I just bought an  iphone 5 and when it gets 90 per cent it says charging is not supported with this accesory.So  is it hok ,or I  have to buy a new charger? Thank you

    Take it and the charger to an Apple store and they will replace whatever is broken. I'm assuming you bought a new phone.

    You may find the message is misleading. My iPhone and iPad continue to charge through my hub, even though it says "Charging not supported with this accessory"

    My original charger was charging very slowly so I bought an after market charger which did not work with the 2010 model phone. However it was charging my old 2007 model phone and this message appeared on 2010 phone. So I found a solution by plugging old phone for a minute or two and then switch the connector in a jiffy to 2010 phone and it would coninue charging.


    Now even my old original charger is also showing the same message. But my both phones are charging well with USB cable on a laptop/desktop so I can not say that it is a connector or software problem.


    I think it is the high initial voltage detected by phone when you switch the charger on is the reason for this error message. Voltage stabilises in one/two minutes while you are charging  the older device and when you change the connector in jiffy it does not give the chance to new device to recognise the voltage difference.

    I have a 3GS.  With the original Apple charger, sometimes I get this message when I plug in with the battery in various states of charge.  Since I've used different devices with my phone, such as a clock radio which has a dock and can charge the phone, and also a 12VDC powered car charger, I've seen it off and on over my period of ownership with all those situations.  What I've noticed is sometimes cables can be an issue.  I've bought cheap overseas cables because they are longer.  It's quite possible the ohm resistance may be somewhat different than the original Apple cable, causing a response from the phone to give that alert.  I'm sure an Apple engineer could give you a very accurate reply to your question.  Almost always, just unplugging the cable then reattaching it fixes the issue for me.  Another thing I notice is sometimes the battery will charge from 50% to 90% and the charger stops there.  Hopefully, Apple sees our questions and tries to improve this situation or sheds some more light on why we sometimes see this.

    Hi, do you know the tips how to differentiate genuine apple lighting cable and the fake one ? and is it true that ios7 can tell us whether the cable is genuine or not ? I am afraid that the lighthing cable i bought is an after market since I bought it online from ebay but the one who sell it told me that is pure genuine! thanks a lot!
