You can't be serious!! Are you saying that you don't know how to use the search box, or do you feel entitled to others holding your hand?
I tried the binacrulars "search" and nothing came up swivel.
How about "rotate", the correct term. There are several search hits.
What you want to do is Portrait lock. (The horizontal view is known as Landscape view.)
Since no one seems to be giving you a direct answer to your question, here is what you would do:
Assuming you are running iPhone or whatever iOS device with iOS 4+

I didnt see anything for rotate that says how to lock it, just that rotate is a feature on the phone.
When i doulbe click the home button it just brings up a scroll of my apps and other icons along the bottom.
Page 33. Try harder. I'd better point out that the unlock procedure is the same as the lock procedure.

Pembs listed 3 steps. I guess you never got past #1.
He didn't mention that you have to do a hard left scroll and them back to the right to bring it up.

He didn't mention that because it's completely unnecessary. Just swipe to the right after double-clicking the home button.
Quite frankly I do not care about the points, some poeple do not have the sufficient knowledge of working with such high tech products and cannot follow the directions you or I might find easy. Or maybe it is just that I work with uneducated people so am used to avoiding what they may call to be complex directions. My 2¢ [no hard feelings].
The User Guide is not a technical manual for experts. The instructions there are no more complicated than what you posted. It's written at a 6th grade reading level and oriented towards a complete novice-noobie.
Whether intimidated by the idea of a "manual" or just plain lazy, getting people used to using it will benefit them in the long run. They might just learn something beyond the answer to their question.
