why does my keyboard think it is azerty?

Hey.

I had an azerty macbook pro. Bought a new one, qwerty this time. Did a user migration from one to the other one. Everything is fine... but the keyboard which thinks it is azerty.

I have obviously set up my user preferences so that it acts normally as a british keyboard during my session but there are moments when this cheat doesn't work like during the logging process. When turning on the computer, I have to enter my password remembering where the azerty touches are if I want to access my account.

Another bad point is when I type in japanese on it. The kanas are transcribed from syllabs I type on my keyboard and in this case again, the transcription on screen is the one coming from an azerty keyboard and not from the qwerty it is supposed to be...

I don't know how to improve this weird situation

Thanks for your help

Hi.

Have a similar issue with an "Italian" qwerty keyboard. I used to have a french azerty keyboard out of which I migrated to my brand new macbook air in an english environment.

First of, keyboard values are not working properly as even though i switch language input source, several input buttons are not reflecting their still don't work properly.

Second, in order to solve another issue -keyboard backlight- I was told to act on the F5 and F6 buttons. Didn't work out either.

Please help me out.

Thanks.

Can you give examples of what buttons produce the wrong output and what that output is?

The correct setting for an Italian macbook air in system prefs/language & text/input sources should be Italian-Pro. Is that the only box you have checked?

Thanks for your reply.

No havent' checked Italian Pro. I'm running under French now. But even though I switch to English, it turns right qwerty, other buttons don t work properly. i.e. respectively from top to bottom, left to right, here are the values of the 8 buttons stuck diagonally between p l m letters and Enter and shift Buttons

[];'\,./

with shift pressed on

{}:"|<>?

with french as an input source

^$mù`;:=

with shift pressed on

¨*M%£./+

Any ideas for the backlit issue please?

Many thanks
