My iPhone and iPad refuse to transfer purchases to iTunes

I am able to backup my devices. I am able to sync my devices. I am able to transfer apps to my devices from iTunes.

I am NOT able to transfer purchases from my devices to iTunes. What do I need to do to resolve this? I've wasted over an hour of this morning trying to fix this already. My computer is authorised.

Various messages iTunes gives me, relating to this:

"An unknown error occurred (1660)"

"The iPhone "3GS" cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (1159)."

"The iPad "ipad2" cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (1159)."

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.7)

If you have anti virus software installed, disable that.

And check System Preferences - Security / Firewall. If the Firewall is turned on, turn that off. You may need to click the padlock icon to make that change.

And try deleting any device backups in iTunes / Preferences - Devices. That may help also.

If nothing above has helped, Reinstall iTunes

Wonderful your instructions helped. 🙂

I'm using windows PC so here is what I did:

  • I disabled my antivirus.
  • Tested iTunes and the error got fixed.
  • I checked Windows firewall and iTunes was disabled for some reason.
  • I enabled iTunes through Windows firewall and all is well.
  • I also made sure to reactivate my antivirus after fixing the error.
  • I tested one more time and everything working fine.

Thank you Carolyn for your help
