Trade Air for iPad (work purposes)?

My used 2010 Air has had lots of internal issues (ram, logic, sound, fan) in the 6 months since I bought it so I´m considering switching to an iPad 2 for work purposes (data entry, research). Of course, I´d purchase a wireless keyboard, too.

Anyone done something similar? How is it working out? I just need something reliable since I´m now living overseas.

Thanks

Hi Dah.veed,

I understand that 'work', for some, may mean many things but my work is pretty straight-forward. It really only requires accessing a site similar to Twitter, using a spreadsheet (for which I use Google Docs half the time), sifting through news items, and emailing/IMíng.

Being overseas means Apple products are double the price but I will have a chance to have a friend bring me some items shortly, so I´m thinking about the iPad.

I use my iPad 2 from my favorite Starbucks. (Yes we have them in Mexico!) I use the Apple wireless keyboard. It is great for me because I am usually just catching up on email or helping in the ASC. But there are drawbacks. Many websites have limitations in their executions for handheld devices. Even here in the ASC using an iPad is limited compared to a laptop. It is difficult to always translate using a mouse to a touchscreen.
