Apple lion thumb drive install on a mac mini 2011

Hello!

I have a original apple lion thumb drive and a mac mini 2011 with 10.7.1 installed. When I insert the stick and try to install lion I am getting a message saying that this version can't be installed on that computer.

When I boot hold ALT and choose the thumb drive I get a crossed circle.

I've read much about a "special" lion version on the Mac Mini 2011 and the Macbook Air 2011. Maybe thats the reason why its not working?

Would be great if someone can help me, the apple support seems also lost.

Greetings

Mac mini, Mac OS X (10.7)

Im having the same problem. And i think that there is not any way to solve this out. And yes, apple support seems a little too lost about this. The only possible solution is to install Lion from apple servers via internet, it's gonna take AGES if you dont have high speed internet connection, but the way i see it, there is nothing else to do. The worst of all is that i will never see my $70 again
