Alternate rows shaded in Excel

I don't think much of the Microsoft Office help system, so perhaps someone here could help.

In Excel (Office 2011) I want to create a spreadsheet where alternate rows are shaded, say in blue, the others being white. This is to help readability with long rows. I know that this can be done because Excel offers several templates (see pic) but my Visual Quickstart Guide is no help. I could do it manually, but the later insertion of rows would require all later rows to be re-shaded. The template has an automatic formatting feature where the rows keep their alternate shadings (I was able to demonstrate that). Perhaps if someone has an earlier versions of Excel, it could give a clue.

In Excel 2011, select a number of columns & rows then goto the Tables tab, New and select 'Insert Table with (or without) Headers. Selecting the Table Style can change the color of the rows. Leave a few rows at the end of the table blank so that you can highlight the rows and insert new ones that are blank when you need to add additional data. The blank rows do not need to be included in the print area.

Thanks Martin. Yours is THE CORRECT ANSWER, but I pressed "Helpful" by mistake. Sorry.

BTW, where did you discover that? I have searched, including the QS Guide, without success.

Well... now that I know that it is a Tables feature (not intuitively obvious) I can see the procedure in the QS Guide.

Your welcome. I don't really care about points. I've been using Excel for...er... many years, I'm not sure where I learned it, just familiar with the program after so long.
