Q: iTunes 10.4 Blank iTunes Store Fix

I too had the blank iTunes Store window after downloading iTunes 10.4.  This appears to be a widespread problem for 32 bit and 64 bit Windows 7 systems.  There are several "simple" fixes that I found online that did not work for me and I absolutely refuse to pay Apple Support $50 for their help. The following solution worked for my  32 bit and 64 bit Windows 7 laptops.  My solution was to downgrade the iTunes software.  I uninstalled iTunes 10.4 and reinstalled iTunes 10.3. I did not backup my songs and I did not lose any songs.  I learned that when you uninstall iTunes the database is backed up automatically and put in the "Previous iTunes Libraries" folder.  But if you are worried and want to be ultra safe go ahead and back it up yourself.  Here are the steps to properly uninstall iTunes 10.4 and reinstall iTunes 10.3:

1.  Go to Control Panel>Programs>Uninstall

2.  Uninstall the following Apple programs in the following order:

     a. iTunes

     b. QuickTime

     c. Apple Software Update

     d. Apple Mobile Devices Support

     e. Bonjour

     f.  Apple Appllcation Support

3.  Reboot PC

4.  Find, Download and Install iTunes 10.3 (you can find it at FileHippo.com)

If you start iTunes now you will get an error message saying that the current iTunes library was created by a newer version of iTunes.  To correct this:

5.  Go to your Music>iTunes folder and delete the "iTunes Library.itl" database file

6.  Within this iTunes folder find and open the "Previous iTunes Libraries" folder and locate the most recently dated "iTunes Library (date).itl" database file.

7.  Copy and Paste this file back into the iTunes folder

8.  Rename this "iTunes Library (date).itl" file by removing the date.  It should say "iTunes Library.itl"

9.  Reboot PC

You are finished.  Good Luck and I hope this helps.

Huh!  Did you follow the instructions exactly?  Uninstall all the Apple programs in the proper order?  Did you reboot your PC after uninstallation of programs?  What version of iTunes did you try to reinstall?

yes I did it exactly as you said, printing out your post so I could follw it.

    I ended up with 10.3

I ended up putting back 10.4 and my music came back. Had to get all my aps through my Ipod touch.

On one of my error, it said that Bounjour is being denied by a host something or other.

So maybe there is a problem with Bonjour and not Itunes.

I'm having the same issue... the problem is, this is the second time this has happened after downloading an iTunes update. It happened after the last update, and now it is doing it again with version 10.4.1.10. I'm running Windows XP. I shouldn't have to uninstall all of my Apple products every time I update iTunes. It's a pain in the hind end and I wish Apple would do something about it... They are starting to become like Microsoft, letting the consumer do their testing for bugs AFTER the update is shipped.

I still can't get to all of the Apple store. I can view my info , update aps, CAN NOT buy music nor see anothing else in the store.

Apple and Microsoft need to get together to get this solved.

The new IE browser and Itunes DO NOT MIX.

One stops the other from working.

It could be Bonjour and the Cloud that is causing problems.

I'm about ready to put my music in windows program and not use Itunes at all.

Yes it might work for some but it didn't for me.

I found this thread (https://discussions.apple.com/message/15993286#15993286) that contains a simple solution without having to uninstall iTunes or your other Apple products... If you are running Windows 7 do the following:

    1. Open folder found in C:\ProgramData\Apple\Installer Cache\AppleApplicationSupport 2.0.1

    2. Right click AppleApplicationSupport 2.0.1

    3. Click Uninstall

    4. Open folder found in C:\ProgramData\Apple\Installer Cache\AppleApplicationSupport 1.5.2

    5. Right click AppleApplicationSupport 1.5.2

    6. Click Install

    7. Restart Windows

If you are running XP (please note that both of the folders are hidden, so you'll have to show hidden folders to find them) do the following:

    1. Open C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple\Installer Cache\AppleApplicationSupport 2.0.1

    2. Right click AppleApplicationSupport 2.0.1

    3. Click Uninstall

    4. C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple\Installer Cache\AppleApplicationSupport 1.5.2

    5. Right click AppleApplicationSupport 1.5.2

    6. Click Install

    7. Restart Windows

I'm running XP and this worked for me WITHOUT having to uninstall all of my Apple products. Hope this helps everyone.

    ~Steve

Thanks so much for this post Steve... I've just spent two days "following the rules" of Apple troubleshooting. This fixed me in less than five minutes.

    Hooah!

THANK YOU bukifvr ... been messing with this off and on for over a week. Followed your post line-by-line ... worked like a charm! I haven't tried to upgrade to 10.4, just happy that everything's working in 10.3. Maybe I'll get brave in the future and attempt 10.4 ... right now I'm just happy my connection to the store is restored. Can't thank you enough.

If you're worried about downloading from a torrent site or whatever, iTunes Version 10.3.1.55 can be found on Apple's website: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1103
