After my Quicksilver 2002 933mhz upgraded with a Powerlogix Dual 1.6 started acting weird, I decided to run the Hardware Test CD and it ran fine in the quick test but when I ran the Extended Test I received a "scc_/3/7" error in the logic board! Does anyone recognize the error? I am wondering if I should replace the logic board. Thanks.
That most likely comes up because you have a non-Apple CPU. I'll test my older G4 with Sonnet chip and see if I get the same error. If your machine is running fine, there is no reason to believe there is anything wrong with the logic board.
You don't want to run a second drive on that channel or you might have booting issues.
If you have one on that channel, I suggest you remove it and get a controller card to run it.
The Logic Board can only supply so much power to certain components on that machine.
I also have a souped up Quicksilver 2002 with the same exact error message. It is due to the upgrades and "whatnot" you have done to it. In addition to not running stock products, Apple's Hardware Test is designed to test "STOCK" machines.
Or, you can get a Digital Audio logic board to replace it if you need a secondary PATA drive...more expensive option than a controller card. The Digital Audio had a better Logic Board for some really odd reason, mine passes all tests and it's a FrankenMac all the way.
