Macbook pro slows down when hot and lags

I bought this mbp about a year ago 13 inch dual core.. its worked great until about a month ago it started to get overly hot. it slows down when i play videos. ive done all the disk repairs i restored everything back to the original settings. it will run fine then all of a sudden everything will be glitchy.. i was thinking the hard drive.... so do i need to go get a new hard drive will that fix the problem. ANY help would be very appreciated

Monitor your CPU activity in Activity Monitor. Look to see which processes are using the CPU.

More often than not, when it comes to video, the CPU will rev up to some extent.

What kind of video are you viewing? If it web-based, Flash video is notorious for using the CPU inefficiently.

It will happen with any video or even playing games not always just internet videos. thanks for the fast response

I had my activity monitor open and said that flash player was using 44%cpu

You can try re-installing Flash. Download the latest version from the Adobe site.

This is one of the reasons Apple has dropped Flash support.

I have reinstalled flash it will do the same thing even while playing a downloaded video...... it seems to only do this when it starts to heat up

Your MBP will not heat up without CPU activity.

It's likely that when Flash plays video the MBP heats up.

It's not for Apple to fix Flash.

Perhaps, if any other community members have any ideas, they can join the discussion.
