Q: Transposition in Logic

I want to shift a melody, a harmonic progression or an entire musical piece to another key while maintaining the same tone structure. In other words, I want to maintain the same succession of whole tones and semitones and maintain my melodic intervals. Any suggestions is appreciated.

Are you talking about a Logic Project with MIDI tracks or recorded audio?

In the first case, you adjust the transposition in the track inspector. The second case requires a treatment with the TimeMachine. It allows you to stretch & compress & pitch shift audio.

Thanks DaCaptain: I am talking about recorded audio, samples, and loops. Your reference to TimeMachine treatment is interesting. Please expand on your reference.  Thanks

time and pitch manipulation through the sample editor.

or you can instantiate a pitch shifter II plugin on the audio tracks in question and manipulate up or down in pitch.

anything that is imported into your project as an apple loop will also have tagged key info that will allow you to adjust pitch using the transposition in the track inspector, or in the global tracks.  You can also make a loop or audio that you like, then save as an apple loop.

or use Melodyne editor if you have that 3rd party plugin.

Randy...interesting information and thanks for sharing.  I do have Ardour and have used it extensively however, I prefer to stay within Logic which means your input on pitch shifter II should work.  I also need to spend more time with the sample editor which you mentioned.
