Windows XP
Back to 10.4 and working. Replaced the iTunes Library.itl file with the most recent one from the Previous iTunes Libraries folder.
Still disappointed. As I understand it, you can't do the iOS 5 update from iTunes 10.4.
Will continue to wait out a solution.
this works by me
In windows 7, click on your start menu, go to accessories, right click on the command prompt icon and choose "run as administrator". Once it opens, type in the following command...
netsh winsock reset
hit enter and it should say something like winsock reset successful now reboot your computer.
I did try the winsock reset solution suggested to no avail. iTunes, MobileDevice and APush still use 100% of CPU and devices will not sync. iTunes actually locks up eventually, though there is no visual indicator of this. CPU remains high usage. Only thing that changes is that hitting the X to close out of iTunes is unresponsive.
OOOSH! The winsock reset worked for me. Good call Japiohelp!
Well winsock reset worked for me too 😀
thx to Japiohelp
japiohelp, your "netsh winsock reset" worked for me - thanks!
After rebooting the PC, I manually started the AppleMobileDeviceService - no CPU load at all 🙂
Started iTunes 10.5 and the white store screen was gone, in additon to a normal load on the CPU 😀
Again, japiohelp, THANKS!
worked for me, it still takes a little time to load but everything looks normal again.
Thanks
EJ327 - My cores haven't been raped and iTunes is now functioning as it should. The netsh winsock reset approach solved it for me. I suppose it what works for each individual's set up. Thanks anyway tho.
Really worked! japiohelp, U are Amazing~~~
Does anyone know if the netsh winsock reset works in Windows Vista please? My daughter has had problems with iTunes since the last update and the new update hasn't improved anything ( surprise surprise!). Tried other stuff but nothing works.
Just tried the "winsock reset" solution on Windows7 64-bit. No luck. Any other suggestions?
The winsock thing seems to have worked for me.
Thank you very much! This has been an issue far too long!
XP Service Pack 3 Users - Winsock Reset also works using MIcrosoft Fix It tool:
Go to http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=811259
The Fix-It tool is two thirds down the page.
I ran this, rebooted and now no longer have the problem.
Good luck to all other XP users - I hope you have the same success.
I have the same problem with iTunes 10.5.
I followed the netsh suggestion and didn't work. Any other suggestion? Running on Windows 7.
Vista SP2
iTunes 10.4.1 CPU 100 usage problem was solved by uninstalling AppleApplicationSupport2.0.1 and installing older version AppleApplicationSupport1.5.2
But the above could not solve the problem with iTunes 10.5. CPU 100% usage until
"Netsh winsock reset" solved the problem. Thx japlohelp. Great job!!
