Oct 16, 2011 6:57 PM in response to bconner34by bconner34,As I have previously mentioned I deleted the Bsecure software I was running on my Windows 7 64-Bit laptop and iTunes started working properly. I could access the iTunes Store and I was able to update my iPod Touch to iOS 5.
I have since reinstalled Bsecure Online Cloudcare version 6.1.8 and the issue with the iTunes Store not loading (the bar gets to half-way and seems to stop leaving me with a blank window) is now reoccurring. However, my iPod Touch (4th Gen, iOS 5) does now sync with iTunes, it would not sync prior to me uninstalling the Bsecure software. I have tried the winsock reset again, rebooted but I still have the issue with the iTunes Store not loading . I have also tried disabling all Bsecure monitoring, for all users, but the issue with the iTunes Store persists.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset and are running any kind of net monitoring software like Bsecure, Net Nanny, AVG Family Safety, Safe Eyes, Covenant Eyes, Norton Online Security etc... I would suggest that you try uninstalling said software and reinstalling iTunes 10.5 to see if that corrects the issue. Best of luck.

Oct 16, 2011 8:19 PM in response to bconner34by i.am.david,I found out that Covenant Eyes has a known bug with iTunes 10.5 and they are working on a fix:
I'm not sure about the other guys.
BSecure Online seems to be pointing you to Apple:

Oct 17, 2011 11:07 AM in response to tbrowningby mprodebu,I had the same problem on my Dell LapTop - then I found that issuing the cmd "netsh winsock reset" then restarting itunes fixed the issue. No more resource hog, and my iPhone is now updated to iOS5 - I found the recommendation on this forum. Good Luck

Oct 17, 2011 3:13 PM in response to stukerby rdwinelvr,I had the same problem. After HOURS of trying to troubleshoot, de-install, re-install, blah blah blah I finally got it to work using the Fix-It tool as suggested by stucker. Thank you!!!!!!

Oct 17, 2011 4:29 PM in response to anthaeus1964by markfrommohnton,I was having this same issue because I had BSecure CloudCare installed and it was conflicting with iTunes 10.5. The solution I found was to enable "Whole Home Filtering" from BSecure. This puts filtering at my router for all devices on my network. Then I was able to uninstall CloudCare from each PC on my network. Then I reinstalled iTunes 10.5 and it worked. Go to www.bsecure.com/setup/WHFConfig.aspx for details.

Oct 17, 2011 8:53 PM in response to TheSmallAppleby ronaldfrommanasquan,Hey "netsh winsock reset" worked for me also. I wasted half the night trying to sync my ipad. Every time I update my itunes it renders my pc unusable. I wish the apple developers could learn how to write PC programs correctly.

Oct 17, 2011 9:34 PM in response to markfrommohntonby bconner34,I enabled "Whole Home Filtering" in BSecure CloudCare which enables filtering on my router as markfrommohnton mentions above. I then uninstalled BSecure CloudCare from my PC, rebooted, and iTunes 10.5 is now working correctly. Thanks markfrommohnton.

Oct 18, 2011 2:43 AM in response to wicleeby hans-bjoern,Hi Guys,
had the same problem since update to 10.4
spent lots of time (days!) reinstalling all apple stuff on different machines - but didnt help
Now I found, its only these three magic words "netsh winsock reset" and a restart
(although I do not really understand what it does)
and now everything works well again !!
iTunes, AppleMobielDeviceHelper and APSDaemon use minimum CPU time
THX a lot!

Oct 18, 2011 9:46 AM in response to wicleeby famu97,I tried the 'netsh winsock reset' command and received 'The requested operation requires elevation'. The usr profile has admin rights. Do I still need to do the 'run as administrator' portion? Has anyone noticed the length of time to do a backup now w/the new itunes?

Oct 19, 2011 6:13 AM in response to anthaeus1964by famu97,The MSFixIt worked for me regarding CPU utilization. I was able to do a back up in a very reasonable/expected amount of time. The upgrade is still an issue, getting a -43 error message and cann't find an explanation or fix for it. Has anyone else seen this message before?

Oct 19, 2011 3:53 PM in response to stukerby Liz111,THANK YOU STUKER!
I am running Windows XP Service Pack 3 on a Dell desk top.
In August, when I went to update to iTunes 10.4, iTunes was using 100% of my CPU. The CPU stayed at 100% even when I exited from the iTunes program. This condition slowed all processing on my desktop down to a crawl. I called Apple support and they recommended that I uninstall and reinstall the 10.4 version of iTunes. Detailed directions for the uninstall and reinstall were on the Apple support website. After uninstalling iTunes my CPU usage went back to normal levels. After reinstalling iTunes 10.4, my CPU usage stayed at normal levels. From August until this past weekend, iTunes 10.4 worked just fine.
This past weekend I tried to update to iTunes 10.5. After the update, iTunes was again using 100% of my CPU. Again, the CPU stayed at 100% even when I exited iTunes. This condition again slowed all processing on my desktop down to a crawl. I uninstalled iTunes (in accordance with the directions on the Apple support website). As soon as iTunes was uninstalled, CPU usage went back to normal levals. After reinstalling iTunes 10.5, my CPU usage shot up again to 100%. The CPU stayed at 100% even when I exited from the iTunes program.
I looked on this discussion group, but could not quickly find any solution to the 10.5 problem. I called iphone support, and got the advice to "call Microsoft - it's not an Apple problem". As a new Apple user (ipad in June, iphone in August), I was hoping that Apple support would be better than Microsoft support. This attitude from Apple support was (and is) VERY disappointing.
At any rate, I tried several searches of this discussions website. The posts that came up were not directly relevant to this problem. I eventually just started reading through the many many posts relating to itunes on windows. Eventually (and thankfully) I found this thread.
After I had iTunes 10.5 installed on my computer (which was then using 100% of my CPU) I did the following:
- Went to http//support.microsoft.com/?kbid=811259
- Went about 2/3 of the way down the page
- Selected the "fix it for me" blue folder tab
- Selected the "fix it" button (#50203)
- Downloaded and ran the "fix it" program
- Received a message that said something like "fix it successful"
- Restarted my computer
When my computer restarted, the CPU was back down to normal levels. I have successfully run iTunes 10.5 and upgraded my iPad software.
Thanks again Stuker. Apple should have some kind of tangible "reward system" for people like you who take the time to share solutions with the rest of us.
