When someone calls me and has to leave a message is there a way I can have my voice just say my name and please leave a message after the beep? I don't need the phone to mention a fax etc. It takes so long listening to all that stuff.

Try calling your VM, going in to options and selecting to use the custom message instead of the default message.

I used my google voice account.

Just create a Google Voice (GV) account and under settings you will see that you can use the GV account voive mail (VM) instead of your cell phone providers.

Essentially what you will be doing is setting up the call forward-no answer feature on your cell phone. When someone calls you and you do not answer, it will be forwarded to your GV account. Just follow the steps when you set up GV

Then you GV will pick it up. Your outgoing message is JUST your own voice (if you set it up that wau) - with nothing at all added at all. Sounds JUST like an answering machine and not a cell phone VM.

Optionally you can have GV transcribe the voice message into text and send it to you in an SMS message or an email. I do both.

The voice to text transcription is not the best, but it will at the very least give you an idea of what the VM is about and that is a great time saver.

Don't forget to add the GV app to your phone too, then you can play the messages back anyway you want with just a couple of clicks.

Plus you get to keep your messages for as long as you want, you get to forward a VM to ANY email, and you have a ton of other features.

Try it - its really nice.

Tap the Phone icon in the Dock then tap Voicemail at the bottom of the screen.

Tap Gretting top left corner of the window.

Tap Custom.

Record your message.

Sounds like a wireless carrier issue to me. Call your carrier's customer service and talk to them about it.
