router that supports bonjour HP Envy printer

My duaghter bought an iPad 2 with an HP envy printer. I have it set up and can print from the macbook pro or from theiri internet ePrint service, but when I try to choose print from the iPhone 4 or the iPad2, it doesn't see the printer. Someone said it could be the router. We just bought a new one, Belkin n750 db. Everything else seems ot work fine with it. How do I resolve this issue?

While that was true then, unfortunately in today's malware riddled world, the exact ports HP requires to be open for printers to work, are now being used for remote intrusions and malware propagation. So I would ask yourself if not being able to wait and print when you get there is worth a Ransomware Attack,or something much, much worse... Especially with Windows 10 being one giant piece of remediated malware,"You can turn it off" they say.... BUT ITS STILL THERE!!!

before you give up on it - I use a 7 year old belkin router and it handles bonjour just fine. While it is possible, it makes no sense that they would remove that finctionality. When I got my HP printer - it worked fine on my desktop computer out of the box, but I had to download new firmware from HP then poof, air print worked. Have you done that step? Check the firmware from the panel on the printer, not from the desktop software.

And I am sure you already checked this, but I understand there are 2 versions of the HP Envy -the 410 a which works for air print, and the 410 b which does not support airprint.

Thanks pjl123. I did all the updates that are available on both the printer and the router. From the printer's control panel as well as from the router's software. The printer is the a version, it was purchased from the Apple store. I contacted Belkin's support and he just said he didn't think it supported bonjour. Which makes no sense to me. So, I am at a loss.

MECobb-

I hope you are not connecting the printer to one of the router's USB ports. AirPrint does not work over USB.

I don't know if it applies, but I've read other articles about problems with router ports required for Bonjour. You might try running the router's setup program. Look for parameters that can be changed, especially with regard to port forwarding or virtual servers. I've read comments about enabling UDP port 5353 for Bonjour.

For the Bonjour service to "find" an AirPrint printer on the same network, the router must permit a TCP response on port 5354 to a UDP request on port 5353. Some routers like the D-Link DIR-655 apparently block these ports by default. I was able to solve my problem by setting up a Bonjour "Application Rule" that opens TCP 5354 in response to a UDP 5354. This permitted my iPad2 to locate an attached AirPrint printer.
