Blank CDs Are Not Showing On Finder or Desktop

After upgrading to Lion, blank CDs do not show up on my desktop or finder as a media device. However, CDs and DVDs with media on them seem to show up without any problems. The blank CDs trigger my iTunes but do not show up as a CD to burn in iTunes. When the blank CDs are in my drive they do show up in my apple profiler. There is simply no image on my desktop or finder. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem?

Macbook 13, Mac OS X (10.7.1), Aluminum

Finder>Preferences>General>Show items on Desktop> CD & DVD

In iTunes>Preferences>General>

With this setting you can choose to open with Finder

Thank you for your response. However, I have all these exact settings and still the blank CDs will not whow on my desktop or finder.

Go to System Prefs >> CD & DVD (1st icon, 2nd line)

You can set Finder or a specific app to open when you insert a blank disc.

OK I found a fix. The problem for me is the Finder preference file. Once I trashed it, everything was back to normal.

Go to ~/Library/Preferences and put com.apple.finder.plist in the Trash. Then restart the Finder by choosing Force Quit from the Apple menu (or option-command-esc), then select Finder and click Relaunch.

That should fix it.

This also fixed the problem of the Finder being always hidden and inaccessible from the Dock. It seems from SL to Lion the prefs became corrupt.

I don't have this file, but I am having the same issue. I can't see or modify a blank CD or DVD and it doesn't show up on my desktop or in Finder. I also checked to make certain I had Finder and System Preferences set as above and still no luck. Any other ideas out there?

You do have that file, everyone does. Find it and Trash it.

I too can not find the file, but have the same issue. However, I am able to see blank DVD-R's...

Really weird that I cant find that file.

I just talked to Apple Support. If you go to Finder/File/Burn Disc -- a folder called Burn Disc will show up on the desktop. Drag whatever you want to burn to the folder. There is a little button on the top right that says Burn. Click that to Burn to the disk.

I had same problem, but have learnt over time that most Apple inconveniences are fixed by restarting the device. I restarted my macbook pro and the blank cd then appeared on desktop. By the way, i couldn't find the file com.apple.finder.plist.
