when i downlaod music files that get imported to itunes it automatically plays the music in the background which interupts what i am currently listening to. how can this feature be disabled as it was possible in the past. i have a macbook air and running iTunes 10.

my issue is importing music files from the internet. once downloaded and imported into itunes it automatically playsback interupting whatever i am listening to at the moment.
Do you drag them onto the iTunes Icon in the Dock, how do you import.
automatically imported once the download is finished and i just need it to stop from automatically playing the track... this feature was able to be adjusted in previous versions
It sounds like your talking about importing purchased music from the iTunes Store. You've only mentioned the Internet, so that could be anything. There certainly isn't a preference in iTunes, except for the CD import, nothing in the Import settings either.
I am having this same issue when downloading audiobooks from Audible.
After the download completes in Safari, it imports into iTunes which automatically starts to play the file.
****** inconvinent when I am downloading multiple books for work and I am away from my Mac doing other stuff. I have to return to the Mac to manually stop the book each time.
