no scrolling with new magic mouse
iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.1)
Capt, Fred,
I tried this but I don't have an area that says anything about scrolling in this area.
I had the same problem. I tried everything. I was angry on my stupid mouse. I restarted the computer twice. And there it was the solution. My computer was giving a crash report and I restarted it and my mouse was working again. Before the crash report shows up, i took out the battery's and put it in twice. Much succes and good luck.
And luke I got magicpref and it works perfectly
Regards Menno
could you solve your problem. I have the same prob and I tried almost everything, even I reinstalled my os, but still my magic mouse recognizes as a normal mouse, the special menue for magic mouse is not appearing for me once I am connecting it.
My os is 10.7.3, but in universal access I do not have scrolling to check.
best
Amir
Hello
Very new to iMac having the same problem. In Mouse option in system preferences, clicked on set up bluetooth mouse, even though mouse connected it cannot find the mouse! So no scrolling, just two buttons - I think the same as you have Amir.
Well, after a lot of fiddling and looking into this no joy. In exasperation, after clicking on the 'setup bluetooth mouse' button, I turned the mouse off for a few seconds then back on again. It found the magic mouse and I was able to set up scrolling. Yippee. Worth a try?
Anyway, scrolling was too fast, went back to set it up and guess what? To do that I would have to turn the mouse off and on after pressing the "setup bluetooth mouse" button. I'm going to live with the scrolling for now, just in case. 😉
Good luck
Lori
I have a brand new mac mini and a almost-new magic mouse (no more free applecare unfortunately). The mouse connected fine over bluetooth and my mini recognizes it as a magic mouse. I have checked all the scrolling/swiping boxes in the preferences/mouse screen and also checked that scrolling was enabled under universal access.
I do not have magic prefs, USBOverdrive, or any of their extensions on this computer (so nothing to delete/uninstall as far as I can tell).I also checked for software updates under the apple icon (there are none).
I have restarted my computer several times, paired/unpaired the mouse, switched the mouse on and off, rebooted computer a couple more times and the mouse still will not scroll or swipe...only track and left click.
grrrr....so frustrated! Any ideas??
i had the same problem with heatherdarnell but only after i reformat my mac and use time machine to back up all the data... it was working well but now only left click and track.... btw i'm still on mac os x 10.5.8.
if anybody can help?
captfred, thanks for the info, it solve my problem.
i always thought my mouse software already updated because when i click the apple logo there is no update available... didn't know i had to do it manually.
thanks again.
new apple user....can you please reply to my e_mail.....pozzij@me.com
i notice you had experience with onkoyo receivers and apple tv..... i have my apple tv working......i have a usb port on my receiver working......
i cannot figure out how to get apple tv sound thru my receiver..... can you help me......
from your post it must not be difficult but i cannot figure it out.....
thanks
just another option for troubleshooting this issue....check to ensure the batteries are good on ALL blue tooth devices you are connected to i.e., keyboard. I resolved my scroll issue with my mouse by putting new batteries in my keyboard which were nearly dead. Pretty sure the weakening connection with the keyboard was causing the bluetooth function(s) within OSX to act strange...
Mine says Accessibility - Mouse Options - Scrolling (without inertia or with inertia). I then clicked on the box before scrolling. I tried both the inertia things, but it didn't make a difference, which one I used, it was the check box that worked. I have Yosemite.
I would love to update to the next one, but everytime I update, some of my apps don't work and I have to spend money to update them, so I am sticking to Yosemite for now.
Try applying the mouse update for 10.5.8. It might have been lost with your restore process.
System Preferences > Universal Access > Mouse & Trackpad tab > Mouse Options.. button > check scrolling.

If you have an app called "magicpref" un install it. It doesn't work with Lion.

Amir, See if you have USBoverdrive installed. If so, uninstall it and everything will return to normal.
