Q: Metadata secondary controller requirements

Does the secondary metadata controller need a fibre connection to the Xsan? Is it just necessary to two separate ethernet connections, one for metadata and the other for the internet?

All metadata controllers either primary or secondary need to have fiber access to the LUN used for metadata. Otherwise it can't fail over properly and take control of the SAN volume.

Thanks Chris. I haven't touched an Xsan in a number of years and for some reason I thought the fibre connection wasn't required.
