Why won't Apple bring back "Save As" since "Duplicate" clearly *****?
I think the question speaks for itself.
I think the question speaks for itself.
Do we also have an unlike button? I need that for Mr. Koenigs posts. 😝
"deliberate design choice". Sure thing. A deliberate choice that forces the user to require several additional steps rather than a simple shortcut. Progress? I don't think so.
Kurt also stated the following post, which seems to be gone for that ever reason:

Babaqum's posts states the same thing others have said. Save As is much more efficient than Duplicate. And stating that makes him a FanBoy? Well, then I guess that makes myself, and at least a couple dozen others FanBoys, too.
And I agree. Yvan, your logic is NO logic at all. That's all there is to say. Fanboy? Of what? Thought through User Interfaces? Yes, sir, I am a Fanboy of that.
@Kees de Wit: Thanks for your post. You nailed it. That's what it's all about. If a change is for the worse then correct your mistake by either reverting to the previous status or improve the new so it becomes more effective than the status we had before the change was made.
Easy as that!
Because you are too lazy to learn about it? See OS X Lion- About Auto Save and Versions. It's really very simple. And, if you knew anything about it you would understand why there's no Save As.
Don't complain about it here. Complain it about it to Apple.
It works great for me. Clearly, it ****** to be you.
because Lion just changed everything we thought a OS should behave.
Apple likes changes and they even advertise their new software with that emphasis.. Final cut X : "Everything just changed in post" ( FC X is also a slap in the face of FC Pro Users ) .
Well it is Apple and some people like that.
I had a similar sense of anger and annoyance when I first failed at save and save as.
Then while writing an email, (**** me for not writing it first in Word, saving it and then pasting into Mail, I know, I understand. Being ironic.) BUT, of course the spinning ball hit and it froze up and I clumsily pounced on the keyboard cursing all things Mac and hating myself for this slavery since 1990. I closed Mail through force quit, reopened it and low and behold in the drafts window of Mail there was my fallen email complete to the moment the dread ball and freeze occured. They got it right. This is something to trust. Lion does have a great grasp of bypassing having to hit save and save as much less duplicate while writing within one application.
This is a good function that I am happy to have experienced first hand in how well it works.
NOW if only the spinning ball and freeze up and delay could be assuaged from haunting my beloved.
You assume (incorrectly) I haven't read up on it. I simply refuse to drink the Koolaid. But don't just take my word for it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZksFkF4S4qI
I hunted around for a link to give feedback and this forum happened to be the most prominent one. Thanks for the info, I'll let them know.
I agree that the save feature in the event of crashes is a fantastic idea. However, it shouldn't be at the expense of functionality.
It isn't at the expense of functionality. It all works. You just need to get used to doing it a little differently than before, but Save As functionality is still present. Your complaint is about convenience, not functionality.
Do you work for Apple? Because it sure sounds like it.
And are you even listening to yourself? Let's use your sentiment for the Apple slogan: "The functionality is still there, just not the convenience."
Seriously? Wow.
Robert,
Clearly your Lion reality distortion field has crashed. Reinstall OS X.
