How could I filter categories in google calendar

I would like to import my son's sports dates from his school calendar and view them in Google Calendar on my iPad. His school provides an iCal URL for it's Calendar, but it has hundreds of events in it in which I am not interested. According to the school website, I can filter by categories (Sports, Music etc), but I can't see how.
