Some how I got duplicates of my library on iTunes and to get rid of all the new duplicates I went to the library I looked for the date the new duplicate songs were added to the library then I went to columns and where you see Artist, song,
bit rate, time, etc and added 'date added' once that's done click on the box enclosing 'date added' and you will see all songs added by date. Proceed to the last one of the songs with that date press command to highlight it then scroll all the way to the first song and press 'shift' to highlight all of the songs added on that date then simply press delete.
you will be asked if you want to delete these songs...That's it.
Ok this is a question from a not technical person!!
What script should I run where and how?
I am able to follow you and display all exact duplicates in iTunes
Thanks for your explanation
You're welcome. 🙂

Try ctrl instead of Option (which is for Mac).
Sounds like you need to run the script as an Administrator and/or adjust your UAC settings. What version of Windows do you have? Is your account an administrator of the computer?
tt2
Yeah I am the administrator, Its Windows 7
Sorry, but what are UAC settings?
So when I click on the DeDuper file, I only get notepad w/ the script in it. I'm assuming I don't have Windows Script Host running properly...but I'm not sure. Thoughts?
I suspect there may be other articles regarding enabling Windows Scripting, one of them may work for you...

Oh, I see. It must be some feature of dbPoweramp. I've never seen a dialog box like that. It certainly isn't generated directly by my script.
tt2
Perhaps dbPoweramp has some setting you can change, or maybe you need to kill a "watchdog" process?
tt2
Yes I'm registered so I should be able to reinstall properly 🙂. I'll have another look at the task manager too, thanks.
I sort of fixed the script. I edited FilePath to exclude everything to the left of "\Shared" and added the drive "D:" It worked but is specific to me. It is not a universal solution.
Hi thanks for the quick response....enabling the recycle bin has no effect on the prompting.....maybe its a Windows 8 thing...will try it on my XP machine.
Hi you can call me a fool but how/where do I download this script and how do I run it? 🙂
Thanks, Tom.
It worked like a charm on my XP machine, so, with a little moving of files, I have masnaged to consolidate 4 libraries into 1, with no duplicates, thank you so much, great script!!
