MobileMe going away- Trying out Podomatic: Just created two samples -

My current podcast is hosted onMobileMe which is going away as of next June. I know that next June will behere sooner than I expect.

Another forum poster indicated that he felt Podomatic was his best bet for podcasting. He had tried podbean too and prefered podomatic. So I finally got around to stepping through trying out Podomatic.

I just stepped through the process twice and also saved off a bunch of screen shots for myself, since I might not get around to moving forward with my conversion for several weeks.

It's relatively straightforward alright.

I'm going to be cautious when I go to change my feed into iTunes too, since my experience with iTunes is once you make an error, it's hard to convince their fully automated system to give you another try!

Perhaps my self-tutorial record will help somebody else. If you would like my word version which includes screen shots you can REPLY to this post and put in your email. I compressed it but can't find a way to add an attachment here.

My Podcast in the iTunes store:“Unpolished Performances”

Step by Step Trying out Podomatic

Steps 1 and 2 are the way that Inormally create my podcasts. There are other ways to make them.

1) Created my podcast in GARAGEBAND, including the photos in thepodcast track

a. I included multiple photos in my ‘podcast’ track and thisworked

2) GARAGEBAND: SHARE > Export Podcast to Disk (aac format)

3) Safari http://www.podomatic.com

4) (May need to create an account, or logon) My account is“LaurelShimer”

a. when I initially chose Publish FROM THE dropdown menu, I chosea url. I can’t repeat that here, because I already have one now. I saved offboth the url and the feed that podomatic displayed at that time. I need thefeed for some profiles, and I think for a link in my blog, if I remembercorrectly.

5) PUBLISH>CREATE

6) Create title, description, save and continue

7) Next I will upload that podcast I created

8) Navigate out and pick up the podcast I exported fromGarageBand.

Notice the icon. DON’T choose the garageband project by mistake.

9) The photo that Podomatic asks for if the thumbnail photo. Myphotos within my podcast/vodcast were preserved.

10)I chose ‘upload a photo, navigated to the jpeg I wanted for mythumbnail and uploaded it

11)Tagged the episode

12) It all looksgood. I will click save&continue

13) Wait while myepisode publishes. I can click on the url provided by podomatic. OR I can putthe url that I chose for my show (when I initially chose Publish FROM THEdropdown menu, I chose a url)

a. I put my own url into Safari. DON’T FORGET to do a VIEW RELOAD

14)Promoting suggestions. Looks like some good ideas here~!
