Hover over the hour number in the top row – it should be the first one – and there should be a little pointing down arrow. A menu should appear and you make your selection there. You want the "1-12" one.

Sep 1, 2011 6:31 AM in response to Porsche 911 3.2by K.S.,I messed around with this on my 10.4.11 machine and managed to lose my date in the menubar so I gave/give up. I was using the info in this thread, http://creativebits.org/mac_os_x/date_and_time_in_the_menubar which also refers to another thread: http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20050508000838365&query=menubar
I don't think Winston would have called this Apple's finest hour.

Sep 1, 2011 4:22 PM in response to Porsche 911 3.2by BDAqua,Did you do that hover over/change on the Time>Customize>Show" Long Date, change it & restart?
Or do you mean in displaying dates of files already saved?

Sep 2, 2011 2:01 AM in response to Texas Mac Manby Porsche 911 3.2,I'll have a look at that Tom, but it wouldn't actually change the existing display to what I want! R.

Sep 2, 2011 2:08 AM in response to BDAquaby Porsche 911 3.2,I can't actually do Hover Over / Change Time > Customise > Show Long Date. The path to resetting the Time / Date is much more tortuous than that! R.
